A critique of the 12th Berlin Art Biennale
I have always been interested in art. Over the course of my life, I have visited countless museums and exhibits across multiple continents. I gained a profound appreciation for how art affects me, and the world. But until now, I hadn’t considered myself an art critic. What I experienced this last week of July has made it clear to me that I am. This moving experience called to mind a quote from Picasso, who famously said,
„We all know that Art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize truth, at least the truth that is given us to understand. The artist must know the manner whereby to convince others of the truthfulness of his lies. If he only shows in his work that he has searched, and re-searched, for the way to put over lies, he would never accomplish anything.” -Pablo Picasso
